Just because it looks cool doesnt mean it wont have major recalls w/ defective parts or entanglement issues because it was ‘new to the market’ and they didnt realize things until 3-4 babies died. So, while the older products might not be ‘all the rage’ you can rest assured that on a typical day they will have far less recalls.
This, like most else in life, falls in to the category of ‘there’s always going to be someone prettier, richer, happier, etc.’ but instead of it being about people its about toys. Yes, Ive seen some cute things out on the market that I thought, I wish they had one like that we I had a child, but you cant allow yourself to get caught up on such small things. Know?
no, not really, but I see clothes all the time that I think are so precious and they’re little baby sizes (mine wears 12-18 mo. size) and that bums me out.
they always have new patterns and fabrics for gear though, that’ll happen.
just think about when we’re grandparents and they have tons of totally new inventions and gadgets out (not just new features or little adjustments on an old bassinet or stroller) for babies — my mom thought our car seat bunting and ergo carrier were the coolest things ever: “when *you* were a baby, nothing like that even existed!”
I was always looking for something that would keep my energy up so that I could be the best mom I could be! I finally found a great product (a year too late!) called Partum Positive that is all natural and helps replenish all the nutrients you lost during birth and in the first year when you are the sole provider for your baby. Its great! I only wish I had thought of it!
I figure we grew up without half the stuff we have available today! And we turned out just fine!
yes! For me it was travel systems, they had only JUST become readily available when my son was born and I couldn’t justify going out and buying one! I ended up feeling embarrassed by our very basic jogging stroller when everyone else (it seemed!) was walking around with a stroller with a bassinet attachment or some other funky doo dad.
Fast forward ten months and I have replaced that jogging stroller because it fell apart and every one who had one of those fancy travel systems has switched over to the cheap $30 umbrella stroller because they blew all their money on the fancy travel system that doesn’t fit in their cars and the stroller seat part is too cramped for their six month olds, Now I’M the one with the fancy stroller because I didn’t take out a loan to get the travel system as a lot of those women did- this meant I had the disposable income to buy something a bit more upmarket!
I wouldnt be bummed…just because it looks good doesnt mean it is good. My friend lent me a heart-to-heart baby sling. She loved it and told me how awesome it is. Well I hated it! It hurt my baby and my daughter screamed each time I put her in. I got a Moby wrap and I love it yet others on here has said they hated it so just because it looks great doesnt mean its worth the money.
I know exactly how you feel. I see things and I think i am buying that for my next baby. My husband thinks stop planning for the next baby lets enjoy this one. I told him well tell them to stop making cool stuff. I say that sling in person at my breastfeeding support group. Oh well it’s not like my bbay is hurting for anything.
New things are always coming out that you wished you could have used. There are a lot of things that have come out that I wished I could have had…there is also a bunch of stuff that I have, that I hardly even used! Don’t be bummed out…you could always buy them and use them for number 2!
Lol! Not really! Buyer’s remorse is a wasted emotion
I regret more buying stuff that I didn’t end up using as much as I thought I would
