Can You Recommend Bowls For My Dog’s Food And Water Or Some Other Product So My Baby Can’t Get Into It?
Consider an elevated dog feeder (they come with bowls) such as these: http://www.ohmydogsupplies.com/dog-suppl…
Most of these are made of heavy duty materials, making them extremely sturdy and spill-proof. Depending on how big your dog is, the large feeders are around 18″ off the ground, which is good for two reasons: 1. Dogs won’t have to strain their neck to feed and 2. it makes it harder for babies to get into the bowls.

Your only supposed to feed you dog once a day. It should be up other then that because if its down the promotes dog obesity. Water on the other hand should be out at all times. You could get a heavy water bowl so baby can’t tip it over. Product wise I really don’t know.
The dog food I feed my dogs is like gold (Evo- The Ancestral Diet). I wouldn’t care if she ate a couple kibbles because its all made from high grade meats. If your feeding Imas, Purina, Kibbles&Bits and Pedigree I would keep it away from baby due to the fillers and all the added extras.
Our baby always plays in the water. As long as you keep it clean and vaccinate your dog I don’t see a problem. If you start feeding once a day you won’t need to worry about her eating the dog food. You might want to buy a extra baby gate to section of the dog in a different area from the baby.
Clean all the dog toys and anything the dog touches. You don’t have much to worry about. Good luck!
We have two dogs and a toddler, my toddler sometimes eats the dog food, I asked my sister about it she took the dog food to the lab to be tested. Came back with the report that determined what made up the dog food was pretty much what we set on our table for dinner. There were grains, (wheat and barely) there was meat and meat by products, the sort that makes up ground beef or hot dogs, there was vegetables. There was absolutely nothing found that would harm someone if they ate the dog food. In fact the report listed McDonald’s and Burger King food BELOW that of the dog food…so if you give your kid fast food you are feeding them worse that what is in the dog food.
We have this issue too and our cat is diabetic and so needs to have access to food constantly so he can help maintain his own blood sugar levels. We have a gate on the kitchen doorway to keep the baby from the food, but I think, realistically, my son is going to be eating some diabetic cat food before this phase is over.
We have three dogs, and what we did was switch to feeding at one certain time of day. It is a pain, but I think it will work better with my daughter crawling around, all over the place. The water we keep in the kitchen, which is a place I don’t plan on letting my daughter play in. The do have sort of like platform’s for the dishes. They stand about 18 inches off the floor, and the dishes just set into the platform. If you have big dogs that could work for a little while.
I had this issue too (and will be having it again in the near future, lol). I think that just about anything your dog can get into, your baby will, too. I found that I just had to block off the room where the dog (and cat) bowls were kept for a few months until my little boy learned not to touch them. It’s kind of a pain, but this phase will pass, too:-)
Good luck.
you’ll just have to give the dog portions of food and drink that you know (s)he’ll finish and pick the bowls up again.
where do u keep the dog bowls? try putting them somewhere ur baby doesnt and cant get to, how old is ur baby?
