Aveeno Baby Product Caused A Rash In My 2 Month Old?!?
I’ve been using Aveeno Baby lotion on my 2 month old son and he got rash on his belly and legs from it. I thought it was from something else and i wasnt using anything on him for a week and rash almost went away. Last night i thought his skin was a bit dry and rash went away i should moisturize him and now while changing him, noticed rash on belly. Anyone else had this issue?? I guess i should just not use Johnson and Johnson at all…

Same thing happened to my son. I aways tell people that Aveeno is not that great and they never believe me.
We use Mustela products now an he hasn’t had a rash or redness since, I used AVeeno aby wash on him once (after switching to Mustela) because he pooped all over and he turned bright red again so I know it was that.
My baby got a rash from aveeno baby lotion as well. I used the one made for ‘extra dry skin from eczema’. His existing eczema got worse and he got a rash and little bumps all over his body. He was about 4 months at the time. A few months later, I used it again over a small area and it still caused a rash. I found out later that he is allergic or has an intolerance to oats. So I’m not sure if it was an allergic reaction from the oats in the lotion that caused the rash or if it was irritation from a chemical.
I’m 22 and allergic to Aveeno products. It happens sometimes, look at the ingredients and see if there is anything in it that isn’t in a lotion that he’s okay with. Stick with an unscented, hypoallergenic, sensitive skin baby lotion. Check out the Kiss My Face product line, I don’t know if they have anything marketed for babies, but the only thing I can use without itching or rash is the olive oil and aloe lotion.
Sounds like he may have sensitive skin. Our pediatrician recommended Cetaphil. It comes in a big tub at Walmart. Wouldn’t hurt to try it out. They also have a wash. We use it for Lilah and it works wonderfully.
Or you could try some natural baby lotions, you can get them online.
I would try the Cetaphil first though.
Edit: Cetaphil is a moisturizing cream lotion and it states right on the tub, “Every age, every stage, every day”.
Edit again: If you are using lotion b/c his skin is very dry, I have read in various places in addition to my pediatrician, to apply lotion within 3 minutes of getting him out of the bathtub. This helps to retain the moisture.
Every product and baby are different. It could be the oats, and if you think that may be the offending ingredient, wet some food grade oatmeal, and rub a small area on the baby. No reaction, it’s not the oats, it’s something else in it. If it is the oats, you’ll probably be okay with something else.
Your baby must have sensitive skin.. YOu know I highly Recommend this producthttp://gentlenaturals.com/products/eczem…
.
Even if your child doesnt have eczema its still soo good for their skin. Johnson and johnson has a lot of fragrance which will dry skin out or give him a rash.
The cream i put on my baby worked so good, I even use it
You can get it at target or wal mart.
My aunt recommended it to me when she noticed my sons cheeks were red from the lotion i put on him.. plus he had some very dry spots on his leg. His pedestrian even took note on what i used to clear up and keep his skin soft/ moisturized.
u can try using organic lotions and wash.. like these http://www.toysrus.com/family/index.jsp?…
that u can purchase anywhere like babiesrus or target..
It’s very possible. Go with the J&J products, I think they’re simpler and safer
My son didn’t have any issues with it, but every baby is different. I wouldn’t use it on him any longer.
my daughter was allergic to anything with Zinc in it. the only thing she could use was A&D ointment.
